Care and Handling

Silk Ribbons

All of our silk ribbons are hand-dyed; due to the nature of this process some slight color variation may occur from batch to batch. This is expected and adds to the charm and uniqueness of our silk ribbons.

iron

Over time and use you may begin to notice wrinkles and or creases on your silk ribbons. This is normal and easily corrected by using a flat iron or hair straightener on medium heat. Simply pull the ribbon through the iron while maintaining a firm grip; be careful to not allow the iron to rest on a single area for longer than necessary. A traditional iron may also be used.

To avoid wrinkles and creases we recommend purchasing one of our handmade spools that you can use to store your ribbon.

silk-thread

To create a beautiful, detailed, and soft edge we hand-fray each ribbon. This may result in some loose thread. These threads can easily be removed, without damaging the product, by gently pulling the thread down the length of the ribbon.

Wash

To clean your silk ribbon you can hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly, wring out the excess water, then air dry. Do not spot clean, this may result in undesired lightening of your ribbon. Wash your ribbon separate from other garments as the color dye has the potential to transfer.

Velvet Ribbons

dont-iroin

Do not use a flat iron to release wrinkles or creases in your velvet ribbon.

If your velvet ribbon develops small/shallow wrinkles or creases simply hang the ribbon and allow the wrinkles to naturally smooth out. If the wrinkles are large/deep or still visible after hanging the ribbon a wrinkle release spray may be used.
